Linus Assist: an owl's foray into the world of AI and Large Language Models
We've added an integration with ChatGPT to our trial accounts to help new users overcome blank page syndrome. It's our first release of an LLM related product.

Welp, we've done it.
Or sort of done it. We have taken our first steps into land of AI and LLMs being a part of our knowledge base software. Now, what is it? It's Linus Assist, an experimental feature for trial accounts that allows you to link up your KnowledgeOwl account with OpenAI. It will write an article based on the title you give that article. That's it. It's fun, it's cute, it won't be helpful to our existing customers, so we're leaving this for trial accounts only in its current state. If we figure out ways to make this actually useful, then maybe you'll see it in different iterations as a permanent integration. It's a lot question-asking and watching how she goes for now. But with that, we ask you keep the following in mind:
1. This is an experimental feature, it is still being developed and believe you me it will also be improved (or pulled if it’s not helpful at all). It is built on a service that is in beta, and that service changes frequently and sometimes goes down (https://status.openai.com/)
2. This is not what our big AI plans are - this is something small we thought to try out in hopes of adding a little fun to the trial experience. We have other, unrelated, AI pots on the stove, they’re just taking longer to release.
3. We want your opinion. We are super on the fence about this feature. Is it actually helpful? Or is it all silliness and nothing but? I thought I’d hate it, but actually had a lot more fun with it than I expected. Twenty articles to try it out before hooking up my own ChatGPT account felt like more than plenty. Do you agree?
4. This is something to improve your experience, not give you a bad one. We are paying for those first 20 runs of the tool, but do you think it’s worth it to have to hook up your own account? Our biggest fear is that this creates a sense of disappointment, rather than fun.
5. This was built to improve the trial experience. No one likes a blank page. That is the problem we are solving. We don’t know if that’s actually a big enough problem for folks, and if this is something we should be solving. Let us know. The feature then can be made permanent for you if you have OpenAI** account. If you don’t though, it may simply serve its purpose by giving you some smiles when you’re testing our app.
** heads up: An OpenAI account isn’t the same as a ChatGPT account. The API service and ChatGPT service are separate services that OpenAI offers, which are paid for separately.
